Holidays are here

We leave for holidays tomorrow. We start in New Brunswick then move on to the Caribbean cruise the end of November. We will try to do updates as the holidays continue but don't be surprised if we don't. I also have some things to blog about that I haven't had the time to sit down and write about them. So maybe I will have the time now.

The weather has been bad the last few days but the weather forecast says clearing tomorrow. If we get delayed it won't affect Michele because she is staying a couple of days in Iqaluit. On the other hand I am travelling straight through and if we get delayed it's going to cost me some coin to change. Dam you Air Canada.

Wish us luck.

Zoom Zoom

I drove a snow machine for the fist time in my life tonight.

Already figured out how to do donuts with it.

Yep...I had better purchase a helmet.

I'm Back!!

I made it back from Iqaluit. Some quick notes from the trip:

- Had the worst meal in a restaurant ever. That is for another post.

- Got stuck an extra day in Iqaluit because of weather in Cape Dorset.

- Amazing how nice it is to get home after being away for a week.

- Michele and I will be heading south for holidays on Friday. I make it the entire way on Friday but she gets to spend the weekend in Iqaluit.

- Amazing how many people I know in Iqaluit now. Still haven't met any fellow bloggers in Iqaluit yet. We should try to arrange a bloggers met and greet sometime. It would be fun to meet the other bloggers from all over the territory face to face.

Photo of a truck in Iqaluit painted to resemble Herby the love bug. Guess you can call this the love truck.

Gone for the Week

I haven't felt like posting lately but be assured that I will be back in the grips of multiple postings soon. A couple of notes .....

-I'm out for the week and won't be back until Friday. It is unlikely that I will get a chance to post while I'm gone. There will be photos when I return.

-We have snow on the ground and it is staying. Snow machines are flying around the community again.

-We are now less than two weeks away from the start of our holidays.

I will see if I can get Michele to post a few notes this week.

Later.....

5 Minutes - 3 cats

Five minutes in the life of our three cats.
I am sweetpea and I am the prettiest cat ever. You may now gaze at me but don't you dare touch me.
Can't you see I'm now in my box! Leave me alone!

Awwww man. Can't you see I'm sleeping. Whats with the flashy thingy. You know my name is Alfie.

If you're not going to feed me then let me go back to sleep.
What's going on? Take my picture? Is that some dust? Is that a TV? My name is Bandit!!

All I ever want is to be the center of attention and some Love.

Carvings

I realized today that we have never posted a photo of a carving on this blog and we live in the art capital of Canada. Below is a couple of photos of carvings, recently purchased, that are different or unusual.

Guitar Bear. Hard to tell from this photo but the bear is wearing sunglasses and playing a guitar. The strings are even carved into the guitar.

This is what I call a transformation. To the right the long slender parts are bird heads. To the left is a man rising up, the bottom is a birds foot and the green part is a stone flame shooting from a bears mouth. Overall just a cool carving.

Misty 9/25/1969 - 10/13/2008

We received bad news yesterday that my cousin Misty passed away after a short battle with cancer. She was only 39 and leaves behind 2 children.

I will always remember seeing my cousin around town in Petitcodiac and each of us saying "Hi cous!". Misty would always take the time to stop and chat and when we would part company I always felt I came away better for it. She had a wonderful laugh and was a loving mother.

Wind - 1 Satellite - 0

We have been trying to get a satellite signal since we moved to the new house and have had zero luck. I am certain the arm got bent during transport from the apartment to here but it doesn't look to far off. This is all we see when moving the dish. Very frustrating.

Now we don't have to worry at all about it. The weather channel says it is gust to 55 Km/hour but we are having long sustained gust in the 100 km/hour range. The photo below says it all. No more dish. We destroyed another one. Snapped bolts, missing siding, busted LNB, really bent dish arm and holes in the siding. *sigh* I don't think anyone will ever sell us a used one here again so we may have to buy it south and ship it up. The white wire in the photo is not hooked on the dish mount it is blowing straight out on the wind.

Water Color

Because of silt runoff the water has turned an interesting green color when the tide is out.

People Photos

A couple of people photos. I'm not very good at photos of people but I figure if I take enough of them I will eventually get the hang of it. Daisy is the daughter of friends of ours and Charlie and Gisa are children of neighbours. If you are in my house or walking by and saying take our picture then you may end up on the blog.
